The community needs us now more than ever, and, perhaps, we need the community more than ever as well. Whatever that community connection looks like to you, there are local organizations ready to help you make those first steps.
After careful consideration, the SVP Teens chose to award a grant of $3,500 in unrestricted funding to the Child Witness Centre, a Kitchener-based charity providing support, education and advocacy for children and youth who are or may become victims or witnesses of abuse or crime.
SASC was founded in 1989 with an anonymous gift of $1000 and the tireless work of 25 volunteers who started a 24-hour support line for survivors of sexual violence. SASC has since grown to a staff of 20 and 65 volunteers who provide individual and group counselling, advocacy and education programs, and a dedicated Anti-Human Trafficking program, along with the support line.
