Dear SVP Partners and Colleagues,

It’s hard to believe it is already the middle of April. Thank you to the many of you who joined our “All Partner” town halls this month. It was so nice to see faces from around the world and hear your perspectives as we shape SVPI’s next steps. We are glad you are willing to experiment with us in new ways to build community.

For the future of SVP, it is clear to me that our work to engage individual philanthropists, strengthen communities, and change systems towards more justice has never been more important. At this time we have the opportunity to undertake a critical analysis of the ways in which systems are not working, as well as to shift how we wield our own power — as local SVP Partners and as a collective network– in catalyzing more resources to the challenges of our time and supporting solutions on the frontlines.

I believe individuals — especially through their giving — can right now strengthen communities and reimagine systems for a more just world. I shared more about my thinking in a recent post: 5 Ways Donors Can Act Now For a More Just World Post-Pandemic.  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

While inspiring and influencing individual philanthropy remains a priority for us, we’re also looking for new alliances to support Investees and Affiliates. I’m excited to announce our new partnership with the Microsoft Alumni Foundation. Partners who are part of the Microsoft Alumni Network have a special opportunity to apply to have a $10 dollar match/hour for their volunteer time with US based Investees and other nonprofits (including your US based SVPs and SVPI). If you’re a Microsoft Alumni Network Member we hope you will use this as a way to encourage other alumni to get involved, as well as leverage your own community participation. Though this is a pilot partnership for those working with US based nonprofits, we are sharing with our whole network since many of you have connections across regions and geographies either with US based nonprofits or MS Alumni. If you’re a Microsoft Alumni SVP Partner who lives outside of the US, let us know as we hope to expand this pilot program to other SVP regions. Learn more here.

Thank you for all that you do for SVP and for our communities.

Onward,
Sudha
