SVP WATERLOO REGION KICKS OFF PERFECT PITCH WORKSHOP FOR CHARITIES

It’s not just tech companies that need to know how to pitch. Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region (SVPWR) today announces the first pitch workshop for charities in Waterloo Region: Perfect Pitch. The Perfect Pitch workshop kicks off in September, and six charities will receive guidance from dedicated coaches from the business and tech/startup worlds in Waterloo Region. These charities will build their ability to tell their organization’s story with power and clarity.

The workshop series will wrap up with an exciting Perfect Pitch event on Tuesday, November 13. That evening, the charities will take the stage in front of community members and judges with real cash awards on the line. For extra fun, during the evening, each audience member can decide which of the six charities receives proceeds from their admission ticket.

As creator of the first and only pitch program for nonprofits in Waterloo Region, SVPWR is excited to announce the charitable contestants for 2018: Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, House of Friendship, Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society, Reep Green Solutions, Sadie’s Place for Innovative Inclusion, and Waterloo Region Family Network.

It’s an opportunity that is highly anticipated by the charities. As Al Mills, Executive Director of Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region states: “We are looking to accurately reflect the work we do, in language that is accessible to those who do not have personal life experience with developmental disabilities. Perfect Pitch will help us clearly state our purpose and story to a broader audience.”

SVPWR’s Board of Directors Chair, Ginny Dybenko, adds: “If there is one event that you will want to attend this year, this is it! Mark your calendars. We need to support the social sector here in Waterloo Region in the same way that we have supported the tech sector for so many years.”
