Launching the 2020 SVP Philanthropy Innovation Fund to build on the strength of our entrepreneurial network model. This Initiative will support sector learning and contribute to scaling global solutions. We know that it’s not enough to find solutions—they need to be shared and scaled throughout the sector. Affiliates will be able to apply for mini grants to increase collaboration across affiliates, document learnings, and accelerate promising practices. We will share more details on this opportunity in the coming months!
Welcome SVP Philadelphia as a Launching Member
In December 2019, the SVP International board voted to have SVP Philadelphia join our global network of 43 affiliates, as a launching member! After a year plus of exploration, SVP Philadelphia, with 40 founding Partners, is now officially part of our network. They will spend this launch year engaging our global network to refine their launch plan, equity learning and action plan, community investment and research strategy.
SVP Philadelphia is starting up at an important time in their local context – Philadelphia is at a tipping point, where nearly 1 in 4 people are in poverty and wealth inequality is at record high levels. Addressing these issues will take a group of leaders from diverse backgrounds who are committed for the long term. SVP International is excited to see SVP Philadelphia emerge to fill this role in the community and to partner with individuals to be more community centered philanthropists. We know also that SVP Philadelphia will benefit from the vast resources and experience available within the SVP network and as many affiliates examine how to make philanthropy more just and advance systems change, we have no doubt that SVP Philadelphia will be part of those efforts to strengthen the social sector and cultivate more just, equitable, and effective philanthropy.
“SVP Philadelphia is thrilled to be the newest launching member in the SVP network. As we develop our strategic plan, we look forward to engaging thought leaders and innovators across the network to ensure our affiliate reaches its full potential to mobilize people and leverage resources in Philadelphia.” – Jen Gleason, Managing Director of SVP Philadelphia
