Developing Relationships in the Social Sector – Course Curriculum

In order for communities to work collaboratively to create and implement solutions to the problems their communities face, there must be a high-level of trust and cooperation. This takes time and skill to cultivate in the face of the underlying power imbalance of many of these relationships, particular between funder and nonprofit. This course guides participants through interactive activities that will strengthen their listening and trust-building skills.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate authentic listening skills
  2. Identify ways to build trust with leaders in the social sector
  3. Compare/contrast interactions that can build or damage the level of trust in a relationship
  4. Challenge their own assumptions about what is the “right” course of action
