This year’s All Partners Meeting was a huge success, thanks in part to the positive energy from the record-breaking attendance! The Accelerator Centre housed over 75 of SVP’s Partners and Community members who came together for a night filled with food, drink and fellowship.
Our SVP Teens were selling raffle tickets that included some pretty awesome prizes. They were able to quickly raise over $600 which goes towards their 2019 community grant. Amazing!
Our very own Executive Director Rose Greensides revealed some powerful numbers. In the last 3 years, SVPWR has donated over $500,000 to local charities and has grown in partners by an average of 20% per year. What a fantastic accomplishment! Our new 20/20 vision involves reaching 100 partners so that we can select not one, but TWO SVP Investees each year.
Sophie Diebold and Jocelyne Murphy continued our night with their exciting announcement that their 2019 grant recipient is Kinbridge Community Association. Kinbridge provides integration programs for individuals and families in the area. Education programming, employment counselling, and community activities are all ways that Kinbridge helps new families in our region get involved. As always, the teens were filled with hope, passion and excitement for the future. Go teens!
We were eager to announce that Reception House of Waterloo Region is our 2019 Investee. Reception House’s Chief Executive Officer Carl Cadogan, explained that Reception House provides a community for families who go through integration processes of finding permanent housing, meaningful employment and improving language skills. Their goal as an organization is to be the first place that government-assisted refugees call home. We are honoured to be a part of such an impactful organization.
The countdown is on! Partners Gerry Merz and Sourov De enthusiastically announced the 7 charities that will be participating in the 2019 Perfect Pitch competition:
- Anishnabeg Outreach
- Button Factory Arts
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region
- Family & Children’s Services of The Waterloo Region Foundation
- Hummingbird Centre for Hope
- Monica Place for Pregnant and Parenting Youth
- Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region
We hope that you will join us on November 5th at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo.
Carizon’s Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Elop, spoke about her team’s involvement with SVP in the past year. Carizon was 2018’s Investee and we continue to work with them on a wide range of projects. Tracy expressed her thankfulness to all the partners and the SVP community for their shared knowledge and expertise.
We had an amazing night filled with excitement, hope, positivity and passion for our community. SVP would like to thank everyone for their contributions, and once again, congratulations to Reception House Waterloo Region and Kinbridge Community Association!
