If you weren’t able to attend SVP’s first Government Relations Panel Discussion last Tuesday, don’t worry. We recorded it! Please note that due to a sound recording glitch the audio is quite low so you will need to crank the volume.
Quincey Kirshner of KidSafe and Gordon Matchett of Take a Hike were joined by Adam Johnson, Principal of the Earnscliffe Strategy Group, who provides government relations, communications, and public policy counsel to clients across a variety of key sectors.
The discussion, moderated by SVP Executive Director Kevin Moorhead, covered ideas and tactics for non-profits and governments (federal, provincial, and municipal) to work together more collaboratively. Panelists shared their experiences and provided insights on cultivating relationships that benefit both the public sector and civil society.
The problems facing B.C.’s children cannot be tackled in isolation. As we seek to deepen our impact on the lives of at-risk children and youth, this is the first of what we hope will become a series of ongoing discussions about cooperation and collaboration between non-profits and the public sector.
We’d like to extend a big thanks to SVP Partner Jonathan McCullough and his firm, Bennett Jones, for lending us their amazing boardroom space for the Government Relations Panel.
