Meet Michelle, SVP Vancouver’s Communications Manager!
We are pleased to welcome Michelle Mentore to the SVP Vancouver family. As Communications Manager, she is responsible for communications and brand management with an aim to build understanding of SVP’s community impact.
Michelle loves to make people laugh and her communications style is relaxed yet professional. Read on to learn more about one of our newest (and funniest) staff members.
When you were a kid, what did you dream of being when you grew up?
I dreamed of being many things: an author, a greeting card designer, a carpenter, etc. My mom wanted me to be a doctor but I hated the sight of blood. It took me a while to figure out that I wanted to pursue a career in communications. I completed a lot of career assessments and communications would always be at or near the top of the list. Once I found out what the field of communications was, I was hooked.
What inspires you to make a difference in the world?
Talking with people and learning their stories inspires me. Through conversation, I can see how each person has faced unique hardships and challenges and also learn what they’ve done to overcome them, or what support or motivation may lead to positive change.
What is one thing nobody would ever guess about you
I know how to line dance, square dance, two-step and polka dance.
Tell us two truths and one lie
- I sing, play the bass guitar, piano and acoustic guitar.
- I was born in South America.
- I’ve flown a plane.
“I was born in South America.” I was born in Canada but my dad was born in South America (Guyana).
What movie would you recommend everyone watch?
What’s Love Got to Do with It. It’s raw and inspiring.
