The COVID-19 pandemic has presented serious challenges for non-profit organizations. Disruptions to program delivery and overall operations as well as to typically predictable streams of income have strained the ability of non-profits to support their staff and maintain their programming and services.
Amidst the need to mobilize additional programming to combat the effects of the outbreak and support Canada’s most vulnerable populations, non-profits are experiencing:
- Loss in revenues from cancelled fundraisers
- Loss of revenues from earned income streams and social enterprise operations that have been limited or suspended
- Loss of donated goods and services (see Backpack Buddies’ struggle) resulting in the need for money to replace in-kind items
In response, SVP Fundraising Director Amanda Burrows offered a webinar to SVP’s current and alumni non-profit Investees.
SVP Vancouver has also established a COVID-19 Capacity Response Fund to support non-profits with urgent needs. Gifts of any size are welcome—every dollar helps the non-profits we work with to continue to provide services to Vancouver’s most vulnerable populations.
