Kevin Moorhead, SVP Vancouver Executive Director

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2019The SVP Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the appointment of KEVIN MOORHEAD as SVP Vancouver Executive Director, effective Oct. 1, 2019. Originally from Vancouver, BC, Kevin was most recently based in London, UK, where he helped foundations, businesses, and NGOs explore platform-based solutions that analyze and inform social and philanthropic strategies and initiatives.

Prior to that, Kevin worked with the Aga Khan Foundation in progressive roles since 2005, including CEO in East Africa and Afghanistan. Kevin brings a track record of compelling leadership and skilled stakeholder engagement in complex ecosystems, with extensive global experience in child and youth issues.

“SVP is on a real growth trajectory, both in terms of the organization and our impact,” says Ron Klopfer, SVP Board Chair. “Since 2001 we’ve worked alongside 66 innovative Vancouver non-profits—investing more than $6M in grants and $18M+ in volunteer time—to help them scale their programs. Kevin’s demonstrated leadership and deep global experience across various complex ecosystems and social issues will be a huge asset to advance our vision at SVP.”

As Executive Director, Kevin will continue to build on SVP’s ambitious growth plan. With his proven track record for increasing social impact in the non-profit sector, he is tasked with amplifying SVP’s successes and accelerating SVP’s future development and innovation. SVP works collaboratively, rallying business and non-profit leaders around a shared cause—to help BC’s children realize their full potential.

A keen advocate for creating positive change through meaningful networks, Kevin will seek to deepen our partnerships and collaboration with both SVP’s Partners and the non-profit sector. Says Kevin, “I’m so grateful to be moving home to Vancouver to join SVP. I can’t think of anything more fulfilling than working every day with an inspiring, diverse community of people all committed to a common goal—a society in which every child, no matter their background, can achieve their full potential.”

ABOUT SVP

Social Venture Partners (SVP) Vancouver is a charitable foundation with a network of more than 200 engaged philanthropists—our Partners—who invest time, money, and expertise into local non-profits. Founded by 19 Partners in 2001, SVP Vancouver is one of the largest affiliates of SVP International, a global network of more than 40 foundations in as many cities.

The non-profits we work with have a shared focus: To help BC’s children reach their full potential. SVP accelerates the growth and effectiveness of non-profits through a unique venture philanthropy model. We pair money with much needed business skills, training, and expertise, giving non-profits the tools and resources they need to effectively develop, grow, and deliver their services and programs to the community. We eliminate barriers for non-profits so that they can eliminate barriers for BC’s children.
