Writer’s Exchange
Is now recruiting volunteer literacy mentors for fall programs which begin in September 2019. Deadline for applications is Monday, September 9.

Backpack Buddies
Help bring the Backpack Buddies program to new schools as a recruitment volunteer.

Down Syndrome Research Foundation

Fresh Roots
Come to one of Fresh Roots’ monthly Great Big Help Volunteer Days on one of their Vancouver farms. Big Helps are a fun way to learn more about urban farming, spend some time giving back, and connect with the Fresh Roots community. Upcoming dates include August 24 and September 14.

KidSafe is always looking for volunteers who can bring a wealth of professional experience, new ideas, and energy to their programs, special events, and organization as a whole. From event support to helping out food coordinators, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Relationship volunteers are paired with a participant mom to build a relationship through monthly meet ups and intermittent phone calls or texts. Visit the Volunteer page for more information.

Love reading and working with kids? Join ONE to ONE’s team of passionate volunteer reading tutors. Tutors volunteer either one morning (9:00am-12:00pm) or one afternoon (12:00-3:00pm) each week throughout the school year. Visit the ONE to ONE website for details.

PEDAL is continuously seeking volunteers of all experience levels and backgrounds to assist in the bike shop or to help out with community programs. Volunteering at PEDAL is a great way to learn bike mechanics and build various skills while giving back to the community. To volunteer with PEDAL, head down to their next Volunteer Orientation Session. Orientations occur on the first Sunday of every month at 6:30pm. Get more information.

Take a Hike
Engage youth with individual and group support, provide positive adult role model, and mentor in the classroom and/or in the outdoors. Visit the website for more information on mentorship opportunities.

Urban Horse Project
Ad-hoc volunteer opportunities are available. Volunteers are needed to help set up the arena, assist with admin tasks, and more. You can learn more about these opportunities and contact UHP through their website.

Learning Disabilities Society
Though LDS does not currently offer opportunities to volunteer directly with the children they serve, they greatly appreciate help with administration and events. If you want to help or become a member of the organization, contact LDS.

Environmental Youth Alliance
