SVP Tucson is Southern Arizona’s
Outstanding Foundation of 2021!

Dear Friends and Community Members,

I am excited to share that SVP Tucson is receiving the 2021 Outstanding Foundation Philanthropist Award presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals!

The Outstanding Foundation Award is given to an organization that works as a true partner with nonprofits, sets an example for philanthropic involvement and has made a significant impact on the community. SVP Tucson is truly a community powered organization, and this recognition of our work is also recognition of the many people who make our work possible. Thank you to everyone who has dedicated time, talent, and treasure to SVP Tucson and the organizations we serve.

I am honored to have our work recognized in such a significant way. Reading the more than a dozen community nomination letters has left my heart overflowing with gratitude for the commitment that each of you makes to SVP and our community every day.

To quote Liz Bowman’s moving letter of support, “In one way or another, whether they know it or not, SVP has impacted almost every single resident of Southern Arizona for the better.”

Helaine Levy stated,  “SVP has been on the forefront of bringing innovative ideas and best practices to Tucson and Southern Arizona including:  Multi-year, unrestricted grants, advocates for other funders to adopt this commitment;  Practices and advocates for using non-onerous practices for grant seekers; Partners and develops relationships with the grant recipients; and Centering nonprofit and community voice in decision making”

Tom McKinney, CEO of Interfaith Community Services, wrote “Anything is possible with SVP Tucson. SVP partners are champions of our most challenging work. They align their efforts with ours and help increase our collective impact. SVP is and continues to be essential in helping co-develop community-based solutions.”

Fernando Gonzalez, Make Way for Books Fast Pitch 2021 Participant, explained, “I have gained professional skills – around messaging, public speaking, fundraising, marketing, and networking – that I will carry with me for the rest of my career and life. I have been able to make connections to new donors and other nonprofits here in my community, and SVP Tucson has provided the guidance to truly make the most out of these connections.”

I am proud to see SVP Tucson’s values highlighted throughout the nomination letters. Our commitment to increased giving, centering community needs, 2Gen collaboration, and our equity education work caught the attention of AFP’s selection committee. I am grateful that SVP Tucson has been recognized for our constant evolution and innovative programming over the last fifteen years.

AFP’s award ceremony that coincides with National Philanthropy day will be virtual again this year. We cordially invite you to watch the award ceremony from home from 3:30-4:30 PM on November 12th. Click HERE for more.

We hope this news leaves you with a smile and we hope to see you at our info session!

Thank you for your support.

Ciara Garcia, Chief Executive Officer
