It is not often that I send two CEO letters in one month, yet I find that I have so much that I want to share with you. Fueled by our commitment to delivering greater impact, SVP Tucson is in a period of exciting growth and evolution. In prior letters, I shared about the development of our 2Gen Nonprofit Collaboration, the expansion of our Fast Pitch program, the recognition we are receiving from our community, and around the world.
2021 has been a big year for SVP. To put it bluntly, SVP Tucson is on fire – and you are the fuel!
With our evolution comes the opportunity to expand our team. SVP Tucson is searching for a Vice President of Programs to join our staff. This position will provide strategic leadership for SVP’s programmatic and community impact activities, lead SVP’s longstanding nonprofit and community capacity building programs and oversee the development and expansion of a collaborative 2Gen approach between SVP and community partners. Please help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity to help take one of Tucson’s most innovative and vibrant philanthropic organizations to its next level of impact, which you can learn more about here.
The hiring of this position allows John-Peter Wilhite to transition towards retirement. In the three and a half years that John-Peter has been with SVP, he has used his extensive knowledge and diverse background in nonprofits to elevate our capacity building work, build out new programs, and engage our Partners in meaningful ways. I consider it the highest honor that he has chosen SVP at this juncture in his career. In early 2022 with the hire of the VP of Programs, John-Peter will transition into a new position as our Director of Education. This position provides the flexibility he desires, including progressive reduction in work hours, while allowing some of his greatest gifts to shine through SVP as he focuses his energy on our Communities of Practice, and partner learning and engagement experiences. John-Peter’s commitment to SVP’s capacity building programs and 2Gen approach remain strong and he will actively support the transition to our newest team member.
SVP’s growth is fueled by you. Your support, encouragement, ideas, and inspiration have led us to the place we are today.
As we evolve, we want to continue to hear your ideas and feedback. I invite you to join me for a Partner Perspectives event on Tuesday, November 16th (11-12) to hear about the evolution of our 2Gen Nonprofit Collaboration, get a sneak peek at our 3-year vision for this important work, and share your feedback on our direction. Please join us. You can confirm your spot with a quick RSVP to Hattie. Our work gets better with your input!
Additionally, I hope that you will join us for two upcoming celebrations:
AFP Awards Watch Party for SVP’s win of Outstanding Foundation Award
November 12th from 3-5 PM at the Community Foundation Campus.
SVP Tucson’s 15 Year Anniversary Celebration *Postponed from December*
February 11th 2022, from 5-7 PM at the Community Foundation Campus.
I am continually humbled to serve our beloved Tucson community and to be able to do it in partnership with all of you. Please reach out anytime with questions, comments or to connect.
Your partner in transformation,
Ciara Garcia, Chief Executive Officer
