ENGAGE! SVP Tucson’s Summer 2021 Opportunities

Our event season is starting and we have A LOT of wonderful opportunities for you to engage with each other and with projects at SVP! Read on for events, calls for volunteers, and fun updates about Nonprofit Partners and Staff.

Health and safety is our priority. We will be in accordance with the CDC Guidelines, please reach out to staff if you have any questions. Event details will share estimates of how many people we are allowing per event.

Zoom options will be available for any events hosted at the Community Foundation Campus.

Facilitation Community of Practice 

Thursday, August 5, 2021

Location: 10 In Person Spots at Community Foundation Campus or via Zoom

SVP Tucson is excited to announce a new learning opportunity for our Partners!
We are kicking off a Facilitation Community of Practice. This is open to anyone regardless of your experience and is a space to grow your skillset and connect with other SVP Partners. This learning opportunity will provide you with skills and practice to take with you for all the roles you play in your life and for our community. Future dates to be announced!

This introductory session will cover:
•    What is a good facilitator?
•    The differences between facilitators and trainers
•    How to deal with challenging group dynamics, and more!

Coffee and Connect with Ciara

Virtual: Wednesday, August 11th from 8:00  – 9:00 AM via Zoom
In Person: Friday, August 13th from 11:30  – 12:30 PM with 10 in person spots

SVP has been going full steam ahead on our 2-Gen work and we have a big year ahead of us! Spend some time getting your questions answered and dive into what we have in store this year with our CEO, Ciara Garcia. This is your opportunity to get a bird’s eye view into SVP Tucson’s work, plans, and progress with Ciara.

This will be a gathering capped at 30 people in person. 

Robert and Rhonda Fleming have done it again! This year’s theme is Whiskey – Arizona and the World. Join us to sample an assortment of whiskeys ranging from local to international as you reconnect with Partners for a laid back evening of socializing and catching up.

Topic To Be Announced! Join us for our first Equity chat of our fall Equity Chat Series. This year we will have 3 in Fall and 3 in Spring.

Equity chats are spaces to explore a variety of topics with peers who are all trying to improve themselves and the world around them by learning the often painful history of how our systems shape the lived experiences of people today.

Fast Pitch Selection Committee

Fast Pitch Selection Committee is a Partner favorite! Do you want to help choose our 10 nonprofits for Fast Pitch 2022? Selection Committee may be the right way for YOU to engage this fall.

Fast Pitch Mentors

Through our Fast Pitch Program we provide 2 Mentors to each Nonprofit to help them shape their pitch. Are you interested in working with a nonprofit leader? Mentoring is a great way to make a direct impact in a rising leader’s life as you help usher their way to success at Fast Pitch!

Become an SVP Coach

Our coaching program has taken the SVP network by storm! By coaching the key staff of our Nonprofit Partners, we amplify our collaborative efforts and accelerate their impact in the community. 

If you are interested in learning more and becoming a coach, email John-Peter for more information. This is a great opportunity to connect one-on-one with nonprofit professionals.

Nonprofit Partner Highlights

JobPath’s 2021 cohort of graduates worked hard to finish their degrees in the midst of the pandemic. See the celebration video HERE to see all the lives transformed by JobPath in 2021. 

Interfaith Community Services’s saw a need for transportation for local seniors that was not being met and this summer has started their “Anywhere Driver” Program. Since June, this program has helped 280 seniors monthly with transportation needs big and small. If you’re interested in volunteering you can learn more HERE.

Make Way For Books announced a partnership with the Native American Advancement Foundation (NAAF) to bring their Virtual Story School program and the Make Way for Books App to children and families living in the GuVo District of the Tohono O’odham Nation. Congratulations Alisa! 

Alisa just received her Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE) through the American Society of Administrative Professionals (ASAP). The mission of ASAP is to create a community for administrative professionals to develop their skills and earn recognition. Earning the PACE certification enables administrative professionals to demonstrate their depth of knowledge, expertise, and commitment.

We are proud of Alisa for this remarkable accomplishment and beyond grateful to have her on our team! Her work ethic and dedication for helping others is unparalleled.
