Dear SVP Partners,
Have you ever been in a situation where life and work felt very complex and even chaotic? In the midst of all the chaos have you had to balance many tasks and decisions while managing the dynamics of human interactions and conversations?
SVP Tucson has found this is often the case with our Nonprofit Partners (investees) and have created a support system for the staff of those organizations with a new approach — personal coaching.
To date sixteen partners have been trained in basic coaching practices and conversations —which is different than mentoring — and have coached over twenty staff members at five organizations over two years. We have received overwhelming validation of this process with comments such as:
“I enjoyed having a coach outside of the office circle that listened without judgment and gave me space to be heard.”
“Coaching shows me doors that I didn’t know existed and offers a new perspective to consider when making decisions about self and others.”
In May of 2019 John-Peter and I gave a presentation about the SVP Tucson Coach Program at the SVPI Summit in Vancouver. During the fall of 2019 Ciara and I presented our process to the global network on a Zoom conference call. Now I am working with several affiliates to support their efforts to create a coach program in their local communities.
The feedback we are receiving from our Nonprofit Partners as well as the interest from other affiliates demonstrates the importance of this program. We continue to work on creating programs that support our efforts to make positive changes in our community.
Coaching is a fulfilling way to engage with SVP Tucson’s work if you have limited availability but want to be involved. Coaching relationships are personal, and if one-on-one interactions is where you shine, this may be the perfect avenue for you to share your talents with SVP.
Please consider attending our upcoming Coach Training on Thursday April 16th from 9AM – 1PM at the Community Foundation Campus. If you are interested in joining the team of coaches or just want to learn more about the SVP Tucson coaching process, please contact John-Peter
With creating impact,
