Stefan Coburn

Stefan is passionate about creating an exciting and bright future. He currently works as a Business Development and Strategy Analyst at Blue Origin, an aerospace company that is developing the future of reusable spaceflight technology. He is excited to nurture new markets in the space economy such as space tourism, habitation, and in-space manufacturing. The vision is a future where millions of people live and work in space. He brings with him his experience as a process engineer for ExxonMobil. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and later returned to school obtaining his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Philanthropy and giving is an important aspect of his life. Stefan follows the example his mother, Lisa Coburn, who lives an life of community service and engagement. He is particularly interested in the intersection of his professional skills and the needs of others. He volunteered his time and skills as a chemical engineer to work on the development of a torrefaction kiln that would enable farmers in India to convert farm waste into coal-substitute briquettes. He also spent two years in southern Brazil as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is also passionate about STEM education and has volunteered as a tutor with many organizations over the years.

Stefan loves the outdoors and finds the wilderness in the Pacific Northwest among the most beautiful he has ever experienced. He enjoys hiking and has a goal to hike to the highest point in all 50 states. He hiked Mount Kilimanjaro last year and is preparing to hike Mount Rainier soon.
