Sustainable Communities Funders Collaborative

The Sustainable Communities Funders Collaborative is comprised of foundations and government agencies that care deeply about the intersection of environmental stewardship, equitable community development and community engagement.

SVP has provided grants that are put towards a pooled fund with this group of grant makers to support organizations and projects that reap environmental benefits for ALL people. SVP has supported and participated in the Sustainable Communities Funders Collaborative since 2013.

$100k Invested in Collective Action for Transit, Equity & the Environment

Over the last year, SVP’s Environment Collective Action Team invested in advancing environmental and transit solutions that benefit all people. They focused specifically on initiatives that engage and represent the needs of low-income people and communities of color – recognizing they are often disproportionately affected by environmental degradation.

Each of their decisions was made in concert with other funders – increasing the overall impact of their investments and setting a strong example for collaborative grant-making.

SVP Invests $170k in Collective Action for Kids and Livable Communities

In the last year, SVP’s Collective Action Teams gave $170,000 in grants towards equitable transit, livable communities, and education in King County – bringing our total investment in collective action to $350,000 since 2012. Though this work, SVP is helping nonprofits engage more effectively in collective efforts, while simultaneously working with other funders to walk the talk – aligning and coordinating our investments for greater impact.
