Mary Lynne Poole aims to give back to her community by providing technical and artistic services that otherwise could not be afforded. She is a leader and a self-directed student in many areas.
As a Database Specialist, Mary Lynne has been sole proprietor of MLP Consulting since 1983. She provided custom database services and business analysis to small businesses and non-profits. In 2001 she changed the mission of her business to providing professional database services as philanthropy only. Her primary client for the last fourteen years was Youth Eastside Services, a Bellevue agency with a hundred staff who help youth and their families cope with emotional distress, substance abuse, and violence. During that time she lead the software development team that combined several small dysfunctional Access databases into one large Access/SQL database that tracked clients, families, employees, volunteers, activities, billing, and reports to many funders.
Mary Lynne is an artist. She has made five large public art pieces in reception spaces of non-profits. Her largest piece is a 42 feet long frieze of life-size kids and animals for Youth East Side Services (Bellevue, WA). She and her artistic team have also created large pieces for The Spoon Foundation (Portland, OR), The Finca La Bella Community Center (San Luis, Monteverde, Costa Rica), and Eastside Preparatory School (Kirkland, WA).
Being a family leader is important to her. She is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of a large family farm in central Illinois. She has served on that board for more than thirty years.
Mary Lynne earned a bachelor’s degree “With Distinction” in Philosophy from Swarthmore College. She studies geology as a hobby.
