Dave is, by nature, a “builder”, with a passion for building and working with teams and people to help them achieve their goals and mission. His involvement in SVP is fueled by his own passion for equal opportunity for all and a belief in the power of individuals investing in their community.
He is a technology industry veteran with 34 years of experience, retired from Microsoft. During his tenure at Microsoft, he led engineering and business teams including the Windows Server and Exchange groups. In his last role as the Vice President of Business Online Services, he was responsible for leading a business and organizational transformation from delivery of product software to delivery of online services – eventually branded Office365.
Since retiring, Dave has been very active as a community volunteer, serving on the boards of Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County, The Excel Charter School, and now SVP Seattle. He’s also served on advisory councils including TEALS, 501 Commons and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, his alma mater. With SVP, he’s volunteered as a Lead Partner, with the Technology Community of Practice, and as a Fast Pitch coach. With a group of like-minded fellow former tech folks, he invests in, supports and advises social impact startup organizations.
He and his wife, Judy, have two grown children. Outside of volunteering, he enjoys traveling, bicycling, singing, skiing, and hiking.
