Somali Parent Education Board (SPEB) is looking for a skilled volunteer to help them put together a messaging framework and strategy in preparation for their 2020 fund development campaign. This is a meaty and important project that will help SPEB communicate its value proposition to individual donors. If you’re someone who is skillful at soliciting information, a talented communicator, and is interested in fund development then this could be a great project opportunity!
SPEB works with Somali parents and students to embrace their dual culture while navigating the education system. The organization partners with parent leaders to provide workshops and inform parents about education policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels, while also working with schools to develop culturally responsive methods to communicate/include parent voices.
SPEB is a young organization that has focused resources on building out its programming and has yet to develop a strong public brand. SPEB currently receives most of its funding from foundations and would like to diversity and increase funding streams to include individual donors. To effectively reach these donors, SPEB would like to focus on honing its messaging.
This project is the first step in preparing for a fund development campaign in 2020. Once SPEB has a clearer sense of how to communicate its value proposition to individual donors, it will be able to proceed with planning how to communicate with potential donors and what kinds of collateral/media platforms will be most effective. In the future, other projects that could follow are: website refresh, fund development strategy, brochure design.
