Washington Green Schools is looking for a skilled volunteer to help the organization develop Board member training responsibilities.
Washington Green Schools (WGS) is a seven year old nonprofit with a ten person Board of Directors. Among the organization’s top priorities for capacity building is to invest in their Board, specifically in the areas of legal and financial matters and the Board’s responsibilities. The overall goal for this project is for Board members to feel more confident in their responsibilities and to have a greater understanding of their fiduciary responsibilities.
Work to be Performed
The volunteer will meet with key staff board representatives to gain understanding as to the current level of board education and capacity. It is envisioned that the volunteer will work the WGS Executive Director and Board Chair to lay out best practices from similar organizations, and agree on training priorities for areas of need for Board development.
As a final deliverable, Washington Green Schools envisions a ~2-hour training with the WGS Board of Directors and a recommendation for ongoing education for new and continuing board members.
