Communities in Schools Seattle (CISS) is looking for a skilled volunteer to work with their Interim Executive Director to plan and facilitate a 4-6 hour Board retreat. The date of the retreat is not yet set, but the organization is aiming for the retreat to take place on a Saturday in late Feb. or early March.
CISS currently has an interim Executive Director and is going through organizational change. The Board of Directors has had to change their role to be more hands on in the recent period and they are tasked with finding a new Executive Director. The Board would like to have a retreat to clarify roles, have some Board education, time to reflect on what is needed in a new Executive Director and the role of the Board with a new Executive Director.
The overall goal for this project is that the Board will be more cohesive, understand their role for themselves and in relationship to the Executive Director, have clarity on the ED search process and develop a few goals for 2019.
The volunteer will conduct prework with the CISS ED and Board member(s) on the agenda, and lead facilitation of a 4-6 hour retreat on a Saturday in February or March, 2019.
This is potentially a great opportunity for a two-person team with complimentary experience and perspective. If you’re a skilled facilitator who can also teach Board members, or someone who has experience facilitating groups, who has met with Boards in the past and understands the roles of Boards versus staff then this would be a great opportunity for you!
