Open Arms has a small Board of committed Directors. Last year, the terms of two long term board members expired leaving only one board member who had been on the board more than three years. Half of the Board are new in the last year, and most have never served on a Board before. Moreover, the Board is working to transition from being a working board to becoming a governing board. While there is deep commitment and a desire to do the Board work “right,” there is less experience of how exactly to accomplish this.
Thus, Open Arms is looking for an individual who can work with the Board to conduct a needs assessment and help the Board think through opportunities for training, recruitment, leadership development, and planning.
Conduct a needs assessment for the board and produce a written 12-18 month roadmap for future board development.
Skills Required for Volunteer
The volunteer should be experience in board development and governance of a smallish community –based organization.
