Communities in Schools Seattle (CISS) is looking for a volunteer with experience in accounting to work one-on-one with CISS’ current bookkeeper as an occasional professional resource. The organization would like to support their bookkeeper’s professional development and also provide technical accounting assistance for more complex projects. The overall goal of the project is that CISS’ bookkeeper develops their accounting skill set and acumen.
CISS would ideally like to match their bookkeeper up with a volunteer who has familiarity with nonprofit accounting, though this is not a firm requirement. CISS envisions a mentor relationship that would allow for regular check-ins and conversations on a monthly basis between now and June, 2017.
The organization would like a volunteer who can provide technical support in the following areas:
- General finance procedures
- Tracking and monitoring restricted funds and grants
- General payroll and tax questions
- Input on transition from cash to accrual-based accounting
