Announcing the 2020 SVP Fast Pitch Innovator Cohort!

We are pleased to announce the 19 organizations selected to participate in this year’s SVP Fast Pitch! It was an extremely competitive group of applicants, all working to make social good a priority for our region.

Organization Description Track
Intentionalist Curates a directory, guides, and events, make it easy to find and support small businesses owned by women, people of color, veterans, families, members of the LGBTQ community, and differently-abled people. Making it easier for consumers to find and support local businesses and the diverse people behind them. For-Profit
Nanodropper Is an FDA-listed, award-winning adapter for eye drop medication bottles that creates smaller and more efficacious droplets to extend bottle-life, decrease cost, and ultimately increase access to vision-saving medications. For-Profit
Sacred Waters Fish Co Is a Native American-owned and woman-owned social enterprise business that produces and sells smoked salmon, salmon candy and dried salmon and other fish products. Guided by sustainable and cultural values, all fish is respectfully caught by Native Americans and Alaskan Natives to address the significant gap in price per pound paid to Native and non-Native fishermen. For-Profit
Abundance of Hope  Provides equitable, culturally responsive, holistic and person-centered homelessness prevention to our youth who are most at risk. AofH is a family organization operated by women with lived experience navigating homelessness and other systems of oppression. Startup Nonprofit
Community Credit Labs Addresses is the problem that people with fewer resources must pay more to access credit. Their programs seek to provide people with economic opportunity by supporting them to access affordable 0% interest credit that helps them achieve their socioeconomic goals and build their credit score. Defy Ventures WA Is a prison reentry program on mission to change that, by unlocking untapped business potential behind prison walls and beyond. We do that by training inmates and the recently released to be valuable employees, inspired entrepreneurs, and passionate change agents. Startup Nonprofit
Eclipsnotes Produces free online courses taught by teen change-makers on everything from writing and political activism to music and art. Teen teachers demonstrate how to apply classroom knowledge to create social innovation, helping other teens find their passion and providing high school educators real-world applications for their classes. Global Water Labs Aims to offer technical expertise to local NGOs and governments seeking low-cost, community-scale defluoridation options. Puget Sound work includes working with local manufacturers in SODO to build reactors that can remove heavy metal runoff and hopefully can scale to schools and cities suffering from lead contamination. Soccer without Borders KC Works with newly arrived immigrant, refugee and asylee youth and unaccompanied minors in King County. Soccer Without Borders’ vision is to build a more inclusive world through soccer. Startup Nonprofit
Space Between Brings research-based practices in yoga, breathing, and mindfulness to children, teens, and educators across Washington State. Our professional development work with educators (school-based and community-based) is in teaching them mindfulness practices as a form of their own self-care and how this work of self-awareness also affects their teaching and interactions with students. The Maternal Coalition Works to ensure that all pregnant and parenting people have access to just and equitable care across Washington State. They are filling the gaps for undocumented immigrants who fear the healthcare system, those that have a voice but feel voiceless. Startup Nonprofit
Community Leaders Roundtable SEA – CHOOSE 180 Has five different modes of engagement with Youth and Young Adult (YYA) participants. Across all these channels CHOOSE has a 75% success rate of participating youth – not reengaging in the criminal legal system, and 97% of young adults staying out of the criminal legal system Established Nonprofit
Playworks Education Energized KC Helps schools and districts make the most of recess through on-site staffing (Coach), consultative support (TeamUp), professional development (Pro), free resources, and more. Established Nonprofit
Sanctuary Arts Center Brings together two youth serving organizations, Sanctuary Arts Center (SAC) and the Bureau of Fearless Ideas (BFI). SAC’s mission is to provide a safe, warm and calm environment for homeless and under-served youth to experience creativity and success through relationship-based artistic programs and internships. Sawhorse Revolution Fosters confident, community-oriented youth through the power of carpentry and craft. Connecting professional carpenters and architects lead teams of high-school aged youth to build inspiring community projects with impact in students' own neighborhoods Established Nonprofit
Seattle Education Access Helps low-income, out-of-school young people in King County earn higher education degrees. SEA is the only organization in Washington – and one of few in the US – to serve these students. Established Nonprofit
Team Read Works to close reading proficiency gaps for 2nd-4th grade public school students in high-poverty schools by providing a trained and paid teen tutor to coach and mentor the younger students. Established Nonprofit
Washington State University One Health Clinic Is a place where people experiencing homelessness with companion animals can seek free medical and veterinary care at the same time without being separated from their pet. Involving students and practitioners from veterinary medicine, human medicine, nursing, and social work with a goal of serving the health unity of a person and their pet. Established Nonprofit
World Relief SEA Focuses on assisting refugees and asylees to grow in stability, self-sufficiency and community integration. World Relief Seattle’s Asylee Resettlement Program provides comprehensive case management, housing, English, employment and immigration services to asylees, and is one of the only programs of its kind in the country. Established Nonprofit
