Making Tomorrow Better: Advocacy and Organizing with YDEKC
October 6 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
As we start our work on advocacy, we are learning how our organizational partners practice advocacy. Join a call to learn about advocacy from our past grantee Youth Development Executives of King County. Panelists will provide you with initial tools and information you need to effectively advocate including trends in effective advocacy strategies, as well as gaps and opportunities specific to King County.
YDEKC’s mission is to connect, strengthen, and amplify the leaders of youth serving organizations so that all Black, Indigenous, and youth of color thrive. The Covid-19 Pandemic laid bare further inequities in serving young people and the challenges facing child and youth serving sectors that work alongside traditional education partners to ensure young people are supported holistically. Opportunities like Best Starts for Kids renewal, and a new Youth Development Work Group at the state level are elevating possibilities for young people to thrive. Learn how you can be a part of it!
Panelists will address questions like;
- Is it okay to advocate as a 501c3?
- Why do advocacy as a 501c3?
- What risks do nonprofits face that seek to interrupt inequitable systems?
- What are current or upcoming issues in youth serving sectors to follow and advocate on?
- How can SVP Partners support YDEKC in their advocacy work?
To give more context to the conversation, panelists will talk about what they are seeing unfold in the youth development field during this pandemic and the calls to re-imagine education.
Attendees will be sent Zoom link prior to event .
