Marie Sauter_original sizeMarie Sauter is a program officer with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Pacific Northwest initiative, managing investments aiming to reduce family homelessness, to improve educational outcomes for low-income students, and to increase the capacity of the regional nonprofit sector. Marie’s portfolio includes support to a network of domestic violence agencies working to improve housing stability, and a network of community foundations and United Ways focused on increasing community engagement in their investment decisions.

Prior to joining the foundation in 2006, Marie worked with several other local grantmakers, including Social Venture Partners, Medina Foundation, Washington Women’s Foundation, and the Council for Children and Families, as well as in nonprofit program management and communications. She is a graduate of Pomona College, and of Seattle University’s Master of Nonprofit Leadership program.

In Marie’s Words: Why did you decide to serve as a judge for SVP Fast Pitch?

I love how SVP Fast Pitch provides a platform for leaders to hone their storytelling skills – and for a diverse audience to learn about a broad range of compelling social solutions in one evening.
