Viva Farms helps aspiring farmers and current farm workers become farm owners. Now in their third season they have surpassed $200,000 in sales and have a solid growth plan for expanding our infrastructure and increasing sales. They currently have 12 farm businesses operating out of Viva Farms, representing over 20 individuals and some additional hired farm labor. All of their land is full and they are looking for land to expand.
Ethan Schaffer reports that the Fast Pitch “program helped us hone our message and get comfortable telling our story. I continue to come back to the core story we developed at Fast Pitch. Our mentors continue to be involved with and support Viva Farms two years later.”
“Fast Pitch was really the first thing that put us on the map,” continues Ethan “The prize money was also a big boost at a critical time. As a small organization, the money made a significant impact in propelling us forward. We received follow on donations and support as well. Fast Pitch opened the door for us to take our small concept and expand it into a viable social venture.”
Viva Farms took top honors in the inaugural Fast Pitch contest in 2011 as well as winning two audience choice awards.
