Seattle Times Says Dawn Trudeau Has Never Stopped Learning

Posted by Jerry Brewer

dawn-trudeau-has-never-stopped-learning.jpgThirty-six years ago, Storm owner Dawn Trudeau left Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with two suitcases and $200 to pursue an education she never received.

She had a crystallized plan: Work for a year, gain in-state status for cheaper tuition and enroll at the University of Michigan. It was a solid plan, except for one problem.

She excelled at work.

In addition to Jerry’s piece, SVP Partner Dawn Trudeau was also recently featured in MORE Magazine.

We share the story here with one correction.  The author implies that in Dawn’s family the women had to eat the men’s left overs.  This was not the case.   “What I said, was that the women cooked, then we served, and when the men were done getting their food we ate, and then cleaned up,” explains Dawn.  “That turned into us eating their left overs.”

Despite this, Dawn feels good about the article, particularly because of this letter to the editor on the MORE website.

I just picked up your July/August issue of MORE. I had a couple of ah-ha moments when I read it. The article on Dawn Trudeau and how she did not have a college degree and achieved sooo much!   Well, I was on the Woe Is Me wagon about not finishing mine! We just moved to Wisconsin from Michigan, and I was in panic mode because I’d left a job I loved and now with no degree I am having a hard time finding a job.  This a.m. I applied for a job that intimidated me because the women there all have MBAs! Anyway, we will see what happens with that.

“If my story gave even one woman the courage to speak up for herself then it was all worth it,” says Dawn.

We couldn’t agree more.  Read Dawn’s full story in MORE Magazine >>
