A 3:22 AM Why-We-Do-What-We-Do Moment

Posted by

a-3-22-am-why-we-do-what-we-do-moment.jpgSo it’s 3:22AM in Chicago, I’m at my sister’s … I’ve been here for two days at the Independent Sector conference (with SVP Partners Lisa Chin, Jeff Tollefson, and SVPI Board Chair Lance Fors) and a reception this evening to launch an SVP in Chicago. That was cool. I’m still up and bleary-eyed beyond words because I just finished v47 of my script for www.tedxrainier.com.

I’m getting ready to go to sleep and just checked my voicemail quick … there was one message from SVP Partner Ron Tanemura … he let me know that he had just heard from Jennifer Parker (SVP Partner and Director of one of our “graduated” Investees, Metrocenter Y).  She shared that Pete Carroll, Seahawks Coach, has kind of adopted the Y’s Alive & Free program (check out the full story, Seattle Times editorial, and quick video). WOW. And that he let one of his neighbors, unnamed but you can project, know about it and he is interested in learning more about the program’s metrics and outcomes. WOW!!!

Boy, this is one of those this-is-why-we-do-what-we-do moments (check out our work with Alive & Free in this video). Thanks, Ron!  329AM signing off. Flight is at 815AM 🙁
