Max Scoular is the founder and chairman of PierceGray, an executive search firm specializing in transformational leadership roles for private equity companies. Prior to PierceGray, he founded XG2, a provider of advisory, benchmarking and executive roundtable services for supply chain leaders in the energy industry.
A graduate of Stanford University, Max’s early career involved working on international trade issues with the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. and at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. He then transitioned into business with McKinsey & Company, a strategy consulting firm. His work with McKinsey was primarily in the firm’s Operations practice and included both domestic and international projects. Later Max became an early-stage executive with FreeMarkets, the global B2B e-commerce company acquired by Ariba/SAP. His business building roles with FreeMarkets included heading up Global Strategic Accounts, Consulting Services, and New Business Lines.
Max is a board member and SVP Partner with Mission Capital in Austin, Texas. He is also past chairman of Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, a 75-acre preserve in Austin that offers outdoor educational programming for schools and families, as well as a former board member of Bamberger Ranch, a 5,500-acre preserve in central Texas.
