We have some terrific news to share. Deb Salls has joined us as Executive Director of Social Venture Partners Minnesota, and she assumed her new role on December 21, 2020.
Deb has spent the last 25 years in nonprofit management in community organizations focused on youth development. For nearly ten years, she has served as executive director at Bike Works in Southeast Seattle. Deb and Bike Works are alumni of SVP Seattle, and her familiarity with our purpose, model and values drew her to us.
Deb’s early youth development career started in her hometown of Minneapolis. Later she was executive director of the YMCA in St. Louis, then worked in Training and Leadership at the National Headquarters of the YMCA in Chicago before moving to
Seattle for her Executive Director role at Bike Works. Along the way Deb has been an adjunct instructor in leadership and program design & development, co-founded a LGBTQ film festival in St. Louis, and served as volunteer or board director for several human rights and youth development organizations.
We had a clear – and bold – vision for our next leader when our search began. Our ideal candidate would bring a drive for our work to catalyze equitable social change by expanding the impact of youth- serving nonprofits developing our community of effective and engaged philanthropists. And they would share our vision of a Minnesota where every young person’s future unfolds uncompromised by social injustice. We are thrilled to begin a collaboration with Deb at SVP and in community.
