Taking Charge of Change
June 7, 6:30 pm-8:00 pm
Book reading and presentation by Paul Shoemaker, Founder of SVP and global thought leader on activating social change agents.
Paul Shoemaker is the Founding President of Social Venture Partners International—a global network of thousands of social innovators, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and business and community leaders that support social change agents in over 40 cities and eight countries. With insights from over 17 years of this unique vantage point, as well as a decade prior at Microsoft and Nestlé and 5 years as a cross-sector consultant, he is a global thought leader and consultant on activating social change agents and increasing impact.
Shoemaker’s new book, Taking Charge of Change: How Rebuilders Solve Hard Problems, profiles 38 rock star change agents who he dubs Rebuilders. One of the leaders featured in the book is Sondra Samuels, CEO and President of the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ). Sondra will join Paul in conversation, discussing the rebuilding work she’s doing in North Minneapolis. Sondra is leading a revolutionary culture shift focused on ending multigenerational poverty through education and family stability.
This new generation of leaders is moving us forward to shape the kind of change we want to see in the world. Shoemaker writes for socially conscious and civically active leaders who seek greater impact—in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Learn how to apply the effectiveness, qualities, and attributes of Rebuilders to your own leadership.
