What if you had a way to increase the mental health outreach support available to rural Victorians, but didn’t have the time or the skills to share your idea? What if you knew how to package and market an idea, but hadn’t found a meaningful use for that talent?
These are not hypothetical questions. They’re why SVP was founded in the first place: to connect people with diverse skills and shared passion – allowing each to have a greater impact than they could alone.
In partnership with SVP volunteers, our Investees improve human resources policies, financial management, board governance…all that behind-the-scenes work that (when optimized) allows them to fulfill their mission more effectively.
At SVP Melbourne our Partners contribute hundreds of hours of skilled consulting, professional advice, services and mentoring to our investee’s. This is a great example of how the SVP engaged philanthropy model amplifies our financial grant many times over. Our Lead Partners with 100 Story Building, Paul Higgins and Susan Keyes Pearce, reflect on our first ever investee. During that time we also applied Partner consulting skills and leveraged our networks for Kids Thrive. We have since supported Good Cycles in the development of their now thriving organisation, Hands On Learning and their successful merger with Save the Children, supported the I CAN network establishment and now with our partner, Newsboys Foundation, guiding and developing this important organisation, and YouthWorx in their endeavour to give underprivileged youth a new chance in work and life.
