What is your professional background? Have you ever thought about applying your unique skills to really make a difference in an area you passionately believe in?
Seem farfetched? It’s not. Local nonprofits need skills like yours to bolster the work they do on the ground and ramp up the impact of the financial support that is available.
Whatever your skills are, we will find a need for it and connect you with your cause. Some examples of skill sets that have been contributed by SVP Partners in other Chapters include:
- Project Management
- Information Technology
- Marketing, PR and Communications
- Financial Management
- Human Resources
- Legal Affairs
- Coaching and Leadership Development
- Public Speaking
- Fund Development
- Strategic Planning
- Photography, Design and Graphic Design
- Board Development and Governance
- Program Evaluation and Performance Management
- Market Research and Survey Design
SVP volunteers build databases, develop marketing plans, revamp human resources policies – you name it. All that behind-the-scenes work that helps nonprofits fulfill their missions more effectively. As we determine our first Investee in 2014 we may also identify other nonprofits we can help with volunteer skills support and capacity building. We want to create more opportunities for our Partners to get involved with the causes that matter to them.
Volunteer projects range from a few hours to multiple years, from discrete one-time tasks to ongoing relationships, and from specific assignments to broad management of multiple projects. We will build a database to enable us to match and support volunteers in their work – and more often than not, volunteers walk way having gained as much as they’ve given.
