A Fortune 100 senior executive, Rick Ramirez’ career has spanned more than fifteen years in the media and entertainment industry covering general market and targeted / multicultural markets. He has held management positions in the areas of marketing, strategic planning, diversity and inclusion, public affairs, business and content development, business and legal affairs, and sales. As a marketing executive, Rick has extensive experience targeting the Hispanic, African American, Asian American, Urban and Faith Based consumer segments with a strategic focus on digital and social media customer engagement. While at Warner Bros. and Fox, he successfully pioneered many “industry first” marketing and business initiatives to maximize revenue potential for their products, programs, and services from the multicultural/targeted consumer base and to also address complex, sensitive issues involving communities of color.
Rick has worked in the areas of television, motion pictures, home entertainment (a retail driven industry), and law. In the areas of business development and business affairs, he has secured, negotiated, and closed multiple international co-production deals and production joint ventures. A strong leader and seasoned lawyer, Rick has been widely known and regarded as a senior Hispanic executive in Hollywood and was recognized as an “Industry Pioneer” by the leading Latino entertainment industry organization.
Currently, Rick is Founder and President of Richmond, Austin & Co., a consultancy to provide strategic planning, corporate growth planning, and diversity and inclusion program development and training for businesses of all sizes, government agencies, and non-profits. He is also partnered with GovernX, a management consultancy focused on corporate governance and boards of directors, to serve as their subject matter expert on diversity and inclusion engagements and training for corporate boards.
Prior to founding Richmond, Austin & Co., Rick was Warner Bros. Pictures Senior Vice President, Targeted Marketing, as part of the Worldwide Motion Picture Marketing Group. One of the most senior Hispanic executives at Warner Bros., he oversaw specialized marketing efforts—Hispanic, African American and Asian American audiences—for all feature films released under the studio’s banner. Rick worked on over 100 Warner Bros. Pictures releases and broadened the studio’s scope in the area of Targeted Marketing to include customized campaigns involving age and faith-based efforts that delivered significant box office success. He worked on the final two Harry Potter movies that brought the blockbuster franchise to an epic conclusion and also worked with well-known filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Guillermo del Toro, Steven Soderbergh and Clint Eastwood.
From 2003 to 2010, Rick served in various capacities at Fox Entertainment Group and its parent, News Corporation. In his last position at Fox, Rick served as Vice President of Marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, where he spearheaded multicultural marketing across all DVD brands (New Release, Catalogue, Acquisitions, Direct-to-Video, and TV). Previous to that, Rick served as Vice President of Emerging Markets where he participated in the development of multicultural business initiatives and strategies that engaged him in the full scope of the entertainment enterprise including broadcast television, cable television, station affiliate group, motion pictures, home entertainment, publishing, newspaper, and digital / social media.
Prior to Fox, Rick was Vice President of Phil Roman Entertainment, where he managed development, production, and business affairs for animated and live-action television series, specials, and motion picture projects. In addition, he oversaw all aspects of deal structuring, financing, and distribution.
A native of El Paso, Texas, Rick has served on various non-profit boards in the area of community outreach and has been honored with multiple awards in the entertainment industry. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Rick began his professional career in Dallas, Texas, as an attorney practicing corporate law.
