Michael is the chairman and CEO of Spectrum Global Solutions. He helps companies succeed by improving performance and growing revenue through operational excellence. Spectrum invests in various business ventures that can be replicated across various markets in the US and internationally. Spectrum currently has investment portfolios in renewable energy, quick service restaurant, consumable goods, construction, and manufacturing sectors. In 2008, he successfully led his company in the purchase of development rights for Little Caesars Pizza in the Cleveland area with a strategic plan to develop stores in West Africa. Spectrum currently operates four Little Caesars Pizza stores in the Greater Cleveland market with additional store openings planned in the next few years in the US and West Africa.
He also leverages his 17 years of executive level experience in banking and strong roots in entrepreneurship to create economic development impacts in Greater Cleveland. He consults and helps economic development organizations such as the Urban League, Presidents Council Foundation, University Circle, Inc., and others to advance entrepreneurship in Cleveland and internationally. Michael has led the negotiation and execution of complex business transactions in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Italy and Nigeria. He is a business coach, a trainer and a conference speaker. As a member of the President Council, CEOs of Largest African American Companies in Northeast Ohio, he works with other council members in wealth creation strategies and inclusion in the Cleveland area.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA in Finance from the University of North Florida’s Coggin School of Business in Jacksonville, Florida. He has held executive positions with some of the ten largest banks in the US, such as, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and SunTrust. He last served as senior vice-president for KeyBank’s Retail and Business Banking Segments where he led the Sales and Service Effectiveness Group. KeyBank awarded him the Chairman’s Award of Excellence, the highest honor given to its employees for high performance.
Michael and his wife, Anulika, are blessed with three children. They are active members of New Song Church in Cleveland Heights, where they help support global missions.
Michael Obi’s love of business started with a car. Or rather, many cars. Michael’s father owned an auto mechanic’s shop in Nigeria and it quickly became the family business. As the youngest son in a family of eight, Michael spent his summer vacations helping his father fix and sell cars.
