Gil worked as medical director of employee health plans and staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic, while also being involved with the education of medical residents and medical students. He is now officially retired from the Clinic, but he continues to see patients part-time. He recently completed a nine-year stint on the board of the Shaker School Foundation and was an active member of Doctors for Ohio Healthcare Reform. Currently, Gil is a board member of Care Alliance, which provides healthcare for the homeless.
Gil received his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University and later his Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. Raised in Pennsylvania and Maryland, Gil resides in Shaker Heights with his wife, Carol.
