Who are they and what do they do?
Our Investment Team (aka the I-Team) is essential to all that we do at SVP. In order to pick a nonprofit each year to support and strengthen, our Partners rely on the scrupulous vetting the I-Team conducts. They are our eyes and ears and heart.
The I-Team’s work runs from January through April. After reviewing prospective Investees’ initial applications and subsequent proposals, conducting site visits, interviewing executive directors and board presidents, and assessing the “fit” between the potential Investees’ needs and our Partners’ expertise, the I-Team makes recommendations to the entire SVP Partnership.
The I-Team’s insights guide our Partnership and help them select our next Investee for a possible three-year collaboration.
The I-Team is led by one of our Partners who collaborates with SVP staff to oversee and facilitate the efforts of the I-Team.
What do I need to know in order to join the I-Team?
I-Team membership is open to any SVP Partner — whether you’re new to our Partnership or a founding member. Prior volunteer or grant-making experience is not necessary. All you need to do is bring an open and curious mind, a willingness to collaborate, and the ability to meet several times each month for four months.
