Investment Reimagined

SVP’s Investment Reimagined is a yearlong learning cohort accelerating the growth and impact of nonprofits committed to addressing critical issues facing our region. Participants will each:

  • Receive support from SVP on 2-3 capacity-building needs* (approximately 150 – 200 hours of holistic, hands-on support)
  • Establish meaningful connections with other nonprofit leaders
  • Form authentic relationships with SVP Partners and the SVP community
  • Increase their confidence, resiliency, adaptability, and skills to navigate leadership challenges, opportunities, and organizational needs
  • Receive a one-time, general operating grant from SVP of $5,000

Program Details

The following opportunities will occur concurrently throughout the program and at a level and cadence requested by participants to best support their work.

Collaborate with a dedicated SVP Partner Liaison on 2-3 capacity-building* goals – Each participant will be matched with an SVP Partner Liaison who will act as a thought-partner and sounding board. The participant and their liaison will co-create a work plan with 2-3 capacity-building goals to work on together during the program. Additional SVP Partners are available for support, as needed.

Peer-Learning with Cohort – Participants will meet monthly in a facilitated conversation to build relationships and support with one another. SVP will provide an initial sketch of what these discussions could cover, but, ultimately, the content will be co-designed by cohort members and a professional facilitator.

Group Learning Sessions – As requested by the cohort, SVP can provide group workshops in a variety of capacity-building areas. These sessions will be led by either SVP Partners or other subject-matter experts.

Eligibility/How to Apply

Our most successful nonprofit engagements have been with small to midsize organizations who are experiencing organizational growth or change. Nonprofit participants must:

  • demonstrate an interest in working collaboratively to address organizational or programmatic needs;
  • hold the title of Executive Director, CEO, founder, or equivalent, and have at least six months of tenure with the organization;
  • be 501(c)3 organization with the IRS or have a fiscal sponsor
  • be an organization working predominately in Cuyahoga County

Though we have Partners with skills in all capacity-building areas, we have the most Partners with expertise in board development, executive coaching, financial management, fund development, human resources, and marketing/communications.

SVP is piloting this program in partnership with several local foundations. The foundations and SVP will each sponsor nonprofit organizations for this cohort.

For our application process this year, SVP is using JustFund. JustFund, the only nonprofit grantmaking platform created by funders and organizers of color, streamlines the grantmaking process and makes the ability to seek and distribute funds simple, easy, and equitable. Committed to resetting philanthropy, JustFund is disrupting old models of giving and building new ones that are values-aligned, trust-based, and rooted in equity. Each applicant is welcomed and encouraged to request a larger funding goal with hopes of receiving additional funding from other funders on JustFund. Applications are due on Wednesday, May 25th by 8 pm.

JustFund Instructions

  • Register for a JustFund account and respond to the question, “What funding opportunity are you applying to?” with “SVP Cleveland.”
  • Please note that JustFund will need to approve your registration before you are able to apply. They will approve registrations as quickly as possible, but in the unlikely event they don’t approve your registration in time to apply for the SVP grant, you will be given an extension.
  • Once your registration is approved, you will receive login information and be able to apply to ‘SVP Cleveland – Investment Reimagined 2022’ in your JustFund account.

Update: We understand from some applicants that JustFund can take more time to get back to you than is ideal. We will honor all applicants who sign-up with JustFund by 8 pm today. We will follow up with nonprofits who sign up by 8 pm tonight with an extended deadline. Please contact caroline@svpcle.org with any questions or extenuating circumstances.
