Sophia Kang is a financial engineer for Chicago Trading Company, a highly analytical proprietary trading firm. She focuses on quantitative research, model development, and innovative product management and integration. For diverse strategies and multi-asset classes, she has produced key sustainable products that streamline complicated workflows to provide consistent returns and mitigate risk in a fast-paced, dynamic environment of trading.
Sophia is passionate about serving her community, especially in youth and education. She has mentored with Team M3, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship and Metro Foundation. Most recently, she leads fundraising for the associate board of North Lawndale College Prep, a charter school serving under-resourced communities of Chicago.
Sophia earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering at the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign and a MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. An avid athlete, Sophia has competed in several endurance races from the Chicago marathon to the Racine Half-Ironman. She also enjoys playing volleyball and adventurous international traveling.
