Jonathan Ellis is the founder and managing principal of Sandalphon Capital, a micro venture capital firm focused on early stage companies.
Previously, he served as senior vice president in Macquarie’s Corporate & Asset Finance group and has over 10 years of investing experience, including devising financing solutions up and down the capital structure for middle market companies, and sourcing and executing investments in a wide range of industries and asset classes.
Jonathan was a member of Macquarie Capital’s Restructuring Advisory and Special Situations group where he was involved in credit and private equity investing, and restructuring advisory engagements. He also was a member of Macquarie Capital’s Diversified Industrials group in London and focused on private equity investments in a variety of industries including car parks, healthcare, deathcare and business services.
Jonathan is an English national and has lived in Chicago since 2007. He earned a BSc (Hons) in international management with American business studies from the University of Manchester and a master of finance degree from INSEAD. He is a member of the Union League Boys and Girls Club Investment Committee and is the Midwest regional representative for the University of Manchester Alumni Association.
