John Mjoseth

John is the former general manager of McMaster-Carr Supply Company's regional headquarters in Elmhurst. He is a long-serving volunteer, including several leadership roles with Holy Family Ministries in North Lawndale. He helped launch the Peace Exchange in response to violence in the community.

John Mjoseth spent most of his professional career in general management, including 32 years at McMaster-Carr Supply Company, serving as the general manager for the region headquartered in Elmhurst, IL. His responsibilities included sales and marketing, distribution and logistics, human resources, credit and collections and facilities management.

Earlier in his career, John had roles in merchandising, purchasing and inventory management. Prior to joining McMaster-Carr, he served in the Army. He has an undergraduate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree from the University of Southern California.

From the late 90s through May 2020, John was a board member, chair, and chair emeritus of Holy Family Ministries which operates a high performing, faith-based elementary school, a secular pre-school, and a host of after-school and summer programs serving disadvantaged youth in Chicago’s North Lawndale community.

John was involved with opening the 45,000 square foot Holy Family Ministries Center built on land purchased at the foot of Chicago’s original Sears Tower. He was part of teams that started a thrift store and the Peace Exchange launched in 2012 in response to violence in the North Lawndale community.

The Peace Exchange consists of two programs: the yearlong Peace Builder leadership development program, and Speaking Peace, a school-based program that equips elementary school students with tools for conflict resolution and nonviolent communication. John also volunteers with the Executive Service Corps of Chicago.
