Chris Deutsch

Christopher Deutsch has spent 20 years investing in and working with early-stage startups in ecommerce, enterprise software, social media and consumer internet. He has been founder, co-founder or founding team member of numerous angel and VC-backed ventures where his responsibilities have included marketing, product development, fundraising, business development and M&A.

Chris is founder and CEO of WeCasa, a new online community that enables people to host their friends by sharing couches or spare rooms for the benefit of nonprofits they care about. WeCasa helps its members build meaningful relationships while driving 65 percent of total revenue to amazing causes.

Prior to WeCasa, Chris spent four years working with Loft Development Corporation, his family’s Chicago-based commercial real estate business comprised of six office buildings and two self/wine storage facilities under the Strongbox brand. Loft Development’s real estate holdings were sold in 2016 and 2017.

Chris is the principal of Lofty Ventures, which has ownership in over a dozen tech startups, including Turbo Appeal (acquired by Paradigm Tax Group), teaBOT (YC S15), Popular Pays (YC W15), Cubii, Blitsy, L Street Collaborative, Crowdfind and Enodo.

Chris is also an LP in social venture fund Impact Engine (IV)  and on the boards of Outreach With Lacrosse & Schools and 100+ Who Care Chicago. He has been a mentor for various accelerators, universities and graduate programs including Kellogg School of Management, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University, Impact Engine, National Association of Realtors’ REach program, and Elmspring.

Chris received his BA in economics from Vassar College, where he played varsity lacrosse, basketball and rugby.
