For Karin Lindgren of LindgrenLaw Group – a woman-owned healthcare technology law practice and consulting firm – a spirit of entrepreneurship and volunteerism have long complemented an impressive, wide-ranging career focused on the business of health IT.

“I was introduced to SVP Boulder County by longtime SVP Partner Jeanette Marquess, who referred me to Claire Clurman, former Executive Director of Attention Homes and current SVP Board Chair,” says Karin, whose diverse clients include physician entrepreneurs, small- to medium-sized businesses, healthcare and technology companies, as well as consultants and investors. “I was quickly impressed by the broad scope of SVP, serving a range of local nonprofits.”

Having lived in Boulder some years ago, Karin served on the board of the YWCA of Boulder County at the time. Then she embarked on a seven-year stint in Florida, where her governing board service included the American Red Cross and United Way, various volunteer leadership roles with the American Heart Association, and a number of public boards and pro bono mentorship and advisory roles to early-stage, healthcare IT startups.

“I’m semi-retired now,” says the energetic 35-year veteran of healthcare technology law, whose STEM degree and many years as a senior IT executive further served as a solid foundation from which to educate university graduate students in various academic settings – including business and law schools, and medical schools across the country. Indeed, Karin served as founding faculty at both Northwestern University’s master’s program in health informatics, and at the University of Colorado’s graduate-level nursing informatics program (ranked #1 Best Online Master’s in Nursing Informatics Program of 2019).

She adds, “When I returned to Boulder last year, I immediately started seeking out opportunities to make a difference in this community with my particular set of hard and soft skills.”

Born Back East, Karin is licensed to practice law in Colorado, California, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court; indeed, she was sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court by recently deceased Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which she recalls as “one of the highlights of my career.”

Karin has been a nationally prominent speaker and author on medical-legal business issues for many years, and now she’s eager to roll up her sleeves as an SVP Partner. “Having served on dozens and dozens of boards, both in the United States and abroad, I know what high functioning boards look like, and what not-so-high functioning boards look like,” she says. “I really look forward to being a resource for local nonprofits, especially around governance issues.”

Widowed with twins – a daughter and a son of whom she’s incredibly proud – Karin reflects, “I’m at a point in my career – in my life – where I’m eager to share my lessons learned, and to present options and recommendations for local nonprofits to consider, understanding that every nonprofit is different, not cookie cutter.”

For fun, the newest SVP Partner to join our ranks is thrilled to be near the mountains again. She loves to hike, spend time with her kids, and re-engage in a community where “people have their priorities straight, when it comes to balancing work and play.”

Welcome, Karin!
