According to 2018 KIDS COUNT data, Arizona ranks 45th out of all U.S. states in overall child well-being. 24% of our children live in poverty (national average = 19%), 7% are without health insurance (4%), 70% of our 4th-graders aren’t proficient in reading (65%), and 21% of our high school students aren’t graduating on time (16%). We’ve made major improvements in the last decade, but this reality is still unacceptable. SVPAZ’s mission is to provide expertise and funding to local nonprofits that are working to make children successful. Our general focus areas are educational opportunities, safety & support, and health & wellness.
