Welcome Danielle Sherman, SVPI’s New Director of Development!

Posted by yvonne

Social Venture Partners International is delighted to welcome Danielle Sherman, a skilled fundraiser and experienced social change agent, as our new Director of Development. She comes to SVPI from Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), an international network of foundations, corporations, and individual philanthropists focused on building better futures for Latinx communities.

“Danielle brings to the SVP network extensive experience in philanthropic partnerships, growing organizational revenue to support impact, and building funds and networks for social change. Danielle’s knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as we transition from our historic role as an invisible backbone into a leadership entity for philanthropy and the SVP network, and will help us be a better resource to our network of affiliates around the globe.” -Sudha Nandagopal, SVP-International CEO

Danielle looks forward to working with the SVPI team and SVP network to forge new partnerships, grow the global network, and realize a bold, new vision to transform the organization’s role in philanthropy.

In her time as Director of Development at HIP, Danielle raised funds to support the organization’s efforts to advance racial equity in philanthropy. She was instrumental in HIP’s expansion, growing the annual budget from $3.5 million to over $8 million during her seven-year tenure. She spearheaded several successful campaigns to launch multi-million dollar funds for grantmaking around post-secondary success, men and boys of color, and disaster relief. Most recently, she oversaw the establishment of a $3 million fund directed toward the migration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Originally from Bellingham, Washington, Danielle received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from Occidental College in Los Angeles. She resides in Portland, Oregon, where she serves on the advisory board of Beyond Differences Portland, a local nonprofit dedicated to ending social isolation among teenagers.  She has a life-long love of travel and is excited to visit local affiliates around the globe.
