PERFECT PITCH EVENT RAISES $13,000+ FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
WATERLOO REGION – It’s not just tech companies that need to know how to pitch with power and style. Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region (SVPWR) is proud to announce that Reep Green Solutions is the recipient of the $8,000 Judges’ Choice Award at the first Perfect Pitch event held on November 13, 2018.
Reep Green Solutions was one of six charities selected to participate in SVPWR’s Perfect Pitch communications workshops earlier this year, and brought their winning pitch to a sold out theater at the Centre For International Governance Innovation (CIGI) on Tuesday.
All of the charities who participated, including Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region, House of Friendship, Kitchener- Waterloo Humane Society, Sadie’s Place for Innovative Inclusion, and Waterloo Region Family Network, came away from the event as winners, as each audience member directed their ticket proceeds to the charity of their choice at the end of the night. This raised, collectively, another $5000+ divided according to the number of voting ballots each charity received.
As part of the first pitch workshop and competition in Waterloo Region designed for the charitable sector, charities received valuable guidance from dedicated coaches in the business and tech/startup worlds, building their ability to tell their organization’s story with power and clarity.
The opportunity has been valuable, as workshop participant Sally Sarachman notes.
“Perfect Pitch has been one of the most amazing opportunities I’ve had the chance to be a part of,” she says. “It was perfectly-timed with [a new staff member] joining our team: it helped him develop fast, deep knowledge about the work that we do, but it was also a wonderful way for the two of us to begin working together. It’s also been amazing to watch all of the agencies wrestle really hard with the language they’re used to and tease out better messaging about the work that they do.”
Special note from the SVP team:
Thank you to everyone who supported Perfect Pitch! From the planning committees to the enthusiastic audience, everyone helped make it a magical event.
Sending hearty thanks as well to our event sponsors: PwC, the Kitchener-Waterloo Community Foundation, Brenda & Dave Walden, and LogiSense, and our community sponsors: the Accelerator Centre, Bingeman’s, the City of Waterloo, and Evergreen Digital Marketing. Thank you for helping to bring this new event to Waterloo Region!
Special thanks go out to our six phenomenal charity teams, our dedicated charity coaches and workshop facilitators, and our hard-working event volunteers. It’s been an incredible journey!
