SOCIAL VENTURE PARTNERS WATERLOO REGION ANNOUNCES THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH RECEPTION HOUSE
Agency to Receive Three-Year Grant and Capacity-Building Support
WATERLOO REGION – Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region (SVP) has announced the newest charity they will be investing in at their June 12th All Partners Meeting: Reception House Waterloo Region.
SVP is a charitable organization that brings together a network of people who are making a significant impact in the social profit sector. SVP Partners pool their time, money and talent and strategically invest into social profits that are building innovative solutions to change the world.
Since 2011, SVPWR has turned $500,000 of cash awards into $3.5M+ of support for nine carefully selected Waterloo Region charities, and connected over 100 skilled professionals and community builders through our projects and partner events.
Reception House’s vision is simple: that all refugees to Waterloo Region have a successful settlement experience, fully integrate into the region, and become an accepted and welcomed member of the community. Carl Cadogan, Reception House’s Chief Executive Officer, notes that SVP’s investment in this vision, and “working alongside [us] over the next three years will help us ensure our role in the refugee journey continues to be transformative and not just transactional, while ensuring our approach is relevant and responsive to community needs.
This opportunity also strengthens our role in the community, and we look forward to not only the financial support… but also the deep expertise, creativity, and wisdom that the investors make available to us. We are grateful for this support and recognition.”
Rose Greensides, SVP’s Executive Director, adds: “SVP builds a new kind of relationship between charities and funders. We ask a lot of the charities we partner with, not least by asking them to show us where they need help. It’s not usually the side you show a funder, but can be vital to our growth together. I am proud to announce that Reception House is our newest Investee. Their programming and leadership are vital to building a vibrant and diverse community. We’re committed to strengthening the work Reception House does so it can reach more new Canadians.”
SVP’s Teens program has also selected Kinbridge as their 2019 Community Grant recipient. Kinbridge is a grassroots charitable organization that engages community, creating a healthy neighbourhood through facilitation of recreational, educational, and social supports so neighbours can reach their full potential.
