Social Venture Partners (SVP), a group of local individuals focused on tackling Waterloo Region’s social challenges involving children and families, today announced that its SVP Teens philanthropy program is now accepting applications from nonprofits in Waterloo Region for its 2016 grant program, which is anticipated to be $3,000 - $4,000 plus volunteer time. What happens when two venture capitalists talk about philanthropy? While this may seem like the start of a joke, it’s actually the founding story of Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region (SVPWR). Jacqui Murphy, Vice President of Marketing at Auvik Networks, and Tim Jackson, Lead Executive at MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, were partners at Tech Capital Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm.
